Marble Stain Test

When testing with mineral oil know that mineral oil will evaporate and is not an indication that your marble or granite is damaged but rather that it needs marble sealing.

For instance blue pearl granite absorbency is typically much lower than white granite so blue pearl is much harder to stain. This can be restored by your marble contractor. And some granite may not be true granite but a mutt stone that maybe is mixed with calcite like marble and the surface will corrode or etch when exposed to acids like lemon juice coffee alcohol salad dressing. Mold can stain marble bathroom countertops floors etc.

These stains can be the result of a water glass that was left on a marble countertop for too long or from hard water buildup around sinks and showers. On the other hand if a stain is present where the mineral oil was you will need to seal marble and or granite with a petroleum based sealer. Even after 10 minutes we can see the residual stain from the olive oil.

Water stains are yet another common stain that occurs on marble. The stain gets more pronounced as time goes on increasing in size and darkening in color.
